Lady Stallions Hold Their Own Against LSUA in Hard-Fought Battle at The Stable

Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson, Sports Information Director

Stafford, Texas – October 16, 2025

Under the lights at The Stable, the North American University Lady Stallions showed heart, discipline, and fight against one of the Red River Athletic Conference's toughest opponents, LSU Alexandria. Despite falling 2–0, the Lady Stallions' effort told a different story—one of resilience and defensive grit from start to finish.

LSUA, entering the match with an 8–6–0 record and sitting near the top of the standings, struck early at the 5:29 mark with a goal from defender Fenja Leibner. Yet from that point forward, North American's defense, led by goalkeeper Arely Sarabia, stood tall under constant pressure. Sarabia recorded eight saves on the night, displaying veteran poise in the box and preventing several close-range opportunities from turning into goals.

The visiting Generals managed to find the net once more in the 73rd minute when Linnea Lundstroem capitalized on a scramble in front of the goal, assisted by Jacqui Guillermo. But make no mistake—the Lady Stallions never folded. The back line, anchored by Genevieve Colón and Alyssa Garcia, refused to give LSUA easy lanes to attack. Colón registered the team's lone shot on goal, a sharp strike from distance that tested the Generals' keeper late in the first half.

For a program still writing its story, this matchup wasn't about the final score—it was about pride, growth, and competing with conviction against a perennial powerhouse. Even the stat sheet shows promise: fewer fouls, improved discipline, and tighter defensive rotations that frustrated LSUA's offensive rhythm.

Head Coach and staff praised the team's effort, noting how the Lady Stallions continue to build chemistry and identity. "For it being such a great team, our ladies held their own," Coach stated postgame. "We're learning to stay composed and trust the process—it's starting to show."
