Lady Stallions Face Firepower
San Antonio, TX- The North American University Women's Soccer team faced a formidable Our Lady of the Lake squad Thursday afternoon in San Antonio, falling 9-0 in a match that tested the Stallions from start to finish.
Despite the scoreline, freshman goalkeeper Arely Sarabia delivered a gutsy performance between the pipes, recording 15 saves against a relentless Saints attack that fired off 38 shots, 24 of which were on target. Sarabia's resilience and refusal to quit stood out as a testament to her competitive spirit and growing leadership in goal.
On the defensive end, Alyssa Garcia provided a spark, registering the Stallions' lone shot on goal and showing her willingness to push forward and challenge the opposing back line. Her effort and energy were emblematic of the fight NAU brought to the pitch.
For Our Lady of the Lake, Eleonora Diversi led the scoring barrage with a hat trick and an assist, while Leah Tapia contributed a goal and two assists, and Katherine Delgadillo added a goal and an assist of her own.
Coach Kenneth Apande continues to emphasize development and heart over results, knowing that every match is a building block for the future of the program. The Stallions will regroup and return to the training ground with lessons learned and heads held high.
Next up, North American looks to bounce back and continue laying the foundation for a program built on grit, growth, and pride.
