The North American University Lady Stallions battled through a tough Red River Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling 5–1 on the road to the Jarvis Christian University Lady Bulldogs at Bulldog Soccer Field.
Jarvis Christian set the tone early, finding their rhythm through quick passes and finishing precision. Valerie Morales was nearly unstoppable, leading the Lady Bulldogs with a hat trick—scoring in the 19th, 22nd, and 85th minutes—and adding an assist on a goal by Abril Soto in the 29th. Diana Vega also chipped in with a solo strike during the 28th minute, pushing the first-half scoreline to 4–0 in favor of the home team.
But true to Stallion spirit, North American refused to fold. In the final minutes, Freshman CDM Alyssa Garcia delivered a shining moment for NAU—launching a clean, confident strike in the 89th minute to notch her first collegiate goal and put the Lady Stallions on the board. Garcia's goal highlighted the team's determination to fight until the final whistle.
Offensively, Darla Artola and Mikaela Valenzuela each recorded shot attempts on target, while goalkeeper Arely Sarabia stood tall in the box. Facing a relentless Jarvis attack, Sarabia made three crucial saves on eight shots on goal, keeping the second-half scoreline within reach and showing her veteran composure under pressure.
Jarvis Christian outshot North American 11–5 and edged the Stallions in corner kicks 4–3. Despite the challenging start, the Lady Stallions' second-half response reflected the grit, growth, and hunger of a program still writing its story.
The Lady Stallions will regroup and refocus as they prepare to return home for their next Red River Athletic Conference matchup. Stay tuned to NAU Athletics and @NAU_Stallions on social media for updates and game-day announcements.
