Women's Soccer Senior Day Recap
Lady Stallions Fight with Heart in Emotional Senior Day Sendoff
Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson
Houston, Texas — Senior Day is always emotional — and for the North American University Lady Stallions, Saturday evening's match against A&M–Victoria was a celebration of legacy, leadership, and love for the game. Though the scoreboard read 2–1 in favor of the visitors, the night belonged to the seniors who helped build the foundation of this growing program.
Before kickoff, the Lady Stallions paused to honor their senior leaders — student-athletes who have given their all both on the field and in the classroom. Each senior was recognized for their dedication, perseverance, and embodiment of the Champion of Character values: respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
From the first whistle, the Stallions battled with pride. A&M–Victoria took an early lead in the 33rd minute with Briana Ortega finding the net, then added another goal in the 56th by Ayloni Garcia. But this night wasn't about backing down — it was about standing tall one more time.
With just under ten minutes remaining, senior leadership helped engineer a beautiful moment that brought the crowd to its feet. After working the ball up the right side, Genevieve Colon and Alyssa Garcia connected perfectly to set up Daphne Oliveras, who calmly finished for her first career goal in a Stallion uniform — a storybook moment for the recent transfer from NAU Women's Basketball.
Goalkeeper Arely Sarabia delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, posting 13 saves to keep her team alive against a relentless A&M–Victoria attack. Seniors Genevieve Colon and Alyssa Garcia led the defense with poise, while midfielders Darla Artola and Jocelyn Grimaldo pushed through every challenge with grit and determination.
As the final whistle blew, the Lady Stallions came together at midfield — not just as teammates, but as sisters. This year's seniors, Daphne Oliveras, Genevieve Colon, and Suzette Baltazar leaves behind more than stats or records; they leave behind a legacy of heart, growth, and belief in what this program is becoming.
"These young women gave everything to this program — they set the standard for what it means to wear the Stallion crest," said Coach. "Their passion and resilience will live on through every player who comes after them."
The Lady Stallions' 2025 season may have come to a close, but their story continues — written in every future player who learns from their example.
Final Score: A&M–Victoria 2, North American 1
NAU Goal: Oliveras (80:52) — assisted by Colon and Garcia
Saves: Sarabia (13)
Thank you, Seniors — your impact will never be forgotten.
Hooves Up, and forever… Gooooo Stallionsssssssssss!
