NAU Women’s Soccer Battles in Austin Against Huston-Tillotson

State Capital Soccer Showdown

Lady Stallions Show Fight on the Road Despite 2–0 Setback in Austin

Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson

Round Rock, TX – After a long Sunday drive to the Capital—navigating through packed highways filled with travelers, families, and even motorcycle rallies—the North American University Lady Stallions showed up ready to fight against Huston-Tillotson at the Multipurpose Complex.

The first half saw HT strike quickly, with Caroline Valencia scoring in the 22nd and 25th minutes, capitalizing on crisp passing from Nathalia Herreros, Lincy Villatoro, and Sara de Jesus Lira. Those two goals ultimately set the tone, as NAU fought hard to climb back but couldn't find the breakthrough.

Despite the 2–0 final score, the Lady Stallions put together a strong showing, racking up nine total shots with four on target. Genevieve Colon led the attack with four attempts, forcing the HT keepers to stay sharp, while Alyssa Garcia and Darla Artola both fired dangerous efforts that tested the defense.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Arely Sarabia stood tall once again, collecting five saves against relentless pressure from the Lady Rams, who fired off 19 shots on the afternoon.

Coach's reflections echoed resilience: "We created chances, and that's a positive step for us. The effort and commitment were there—we just need that final touch to turn games like this our way."

The Lady Stallions will look to regroup and continue building momentum as the season progresses, taking pride in their ability to compete in back-to-back tough road environments.
