Stallions Make UTRGV Hit The Bench

Down by Four at Halftime

Traveling is a no no in basketball unless we are talking away games.  Heading to the Rio Grand Valley for a basketball game between the Stallions of North American University and the Vaqueros of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Here is our summary:

The Stallions faced a tough loss against the Vaqueros with a final score of 92-73 at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. Jalon Clark led the Stallions with 15 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Other notable performances include Damione Thomas with 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks, Jamarric Hammond with 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists, and Kenwyion "The Marksmen" White with 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers.

The game started with the Stallions leading 8-6, but the Vaqueros responded with a 20-3 run, putting them up 26-11. Despite trailing by 14 points, the Stallions managed to close the gap to 43-39 by scoring the final 10 points of the half. In the second half, the Stallions got as close as 43-42, but the Vaqueros pulled away with a 17-0 run led by Elliott, securing a 60-42 lead.

The Broadcaster and SID of UTRGV, Jonah Goldberg, mentioned that the Stallions are known for their relentless effort. Despite the loss, the young Stallions showcased improvement and progress. Rebounding was identified as a weakness in this game, and missed free throws by UTRGV were capitalized on with offensive rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Stallions will face the Texas Wesleyan University Basketball Team in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday at 5:30 pm in the Sid Richardson Building. The anticipation is high as the team aims to continue their progress and make a statement in the upcoming game.
