Game Recap: Football |

Action Packed Senior Day For The Stallions

The North American University football team played a nonconference opponent at the University of Fort Lauderdale's home in Stafford, TX for senior day. It was an action-packed game that saw both teams giving their all for all four quarters.

The game started with the defense making some big stops and a great interception by #16 Decarlos Johnson. However, there were quite a few penalties, including offsides and illegal procedure, in the first quarter, likely due to the nervous energy and anticipation of the game.

In the eleventh minute, the University of Fort Lauderdale's Marquez Smith received a pass from DeRohn King for a 24-yard touchdown, giving the Stallions an early spark. The Stallions continued to impress as #14 Griffen Williams found #5 Colbi Clark for a 57-yard touchdown pass, proving that the Stallions could soar.

As the game progressed, both teams settled into their distinctive styles of play, and the barn burner continued. The Stallions managed to secure 17 first downs and gained around 200 yards of net offense. Griffin Williams had a productive day with 142 passing yards and 2 TDs, while his QB partner, Jesper Korkalain, went 7-10 with 52 yards and 1 TD. The offensive line, known as The Hogmoleys, only allowed one sack on the QBs, which was a testament to their hard work.

On the defensive side, the Stallions were successful in neutralizing the talented running backs of the University of Fort Lauderdale, holding them to only 54 yards at an average of 1.9 yards per carry. Team Captain #0 Derrodrick Hadnot led the team in rushing with 52 yards, including a 41-yard breakaway run. Jaylyn Williams had a solid performance with 4 catches for 46 yards and 2 TDs. Mason Jenkins and Ahmaury Calhoun were active on defense, each finishing with 6 tackles, and Calhoun recorded a sack.

Despite making some big plays and getting crucial stops, the Stallions ultimately lost the game with a final score of 29-34. Nevertheless, the team's effort and continuous improvement were acknowledged and appreciated.

As a reward for their hard work, the coaches organized a team-building event at Main Event, which included activities like eating, bowling, playing pool, laser tag, and more. The sense of unity and family within the team was emphasized, even if perfection wasn't the goal.

The next and last game of the season will be against Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas. The game is scheduled for 2:30 PM at Hall High School, located at 6700 H St, Little Rock, AR 72205. The fans are encouraged to stay tuned and support the Stallions as they face their next opponent. Goooooo Stallions!
