The NAU Men's Basketball team faced a challenging away game in Nacogdoches, Texas, against the Division One opponent, Stephen F. Austin University. The game saw a difference in shooting percentages, with SFA shooting 53.6% from the field and NAU shooting 37.1%. Additionally, SFA capitalized on second-chance points, resulting in a final score of 68-96 in favor of Stephen F. Austin.
Despite the tough loss, there were some positive takeaways for the NAU Men's Basketball team. Team Captain #23 Jalon Clark had a standout performance, contributing 17 points and 8 rebounds. Sean Fry, coming off the bench, also made a significant impact with 17 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists.
In the second half of the game, the Stallions managed to outscore the Lumberjacks by two points. This impressive performance caught the attention of the Men's Coach of SFA, Coach Kyle Keller, who acknowledged the Stallions' relentless effort and speed, particularly praising their three-point shooting.
While the final score favored Stephen F. Austin, the positive individual performances and the team's determination to keep playing hard and fast were highlighted as encouraging aspects of the game.
The next game will be a Red River Athletic Conference VS Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Challenge.
