Led by the dynamic Anthony Scott, the University of the Southwest (Mustangs) brought intensity and resilience to the matchup. Scott's remarkable 22-point performance set the tone for the Mustangs, while Rahkiem Petterson,  Mojus Mojus, Caleb Wilson, and Johnny DeWalt contributed with impressive scoring efforts. Despite a commendable 54.1% shooting percentage from the field and a solid 60.0% from beyond the arc, the Mustangs faced tough competition from NAU.

From the outset, NAU demonstrated its prowess, with E.J. Wynn and Sean Fry providing a strong foundation for success.
