Lady Stallions Stampede Texas College Steers

6-0 Victory at Ronald Thornton Stadium

Lady Stallions Stampede Texas College Steers with 6-0 Victory at Ronald Thornton Stadium

Stafford, TX—In the heart of rivalry week, the Lady Stallions galloped past the Texas College Steers with a commanding 6-0 victory that left no room for doubt. But before we dive into the on-field action, let's address the comments that stirred the pot pre-game. Texas College Head Coach Marcos took issue with the regulation size of Ronald Thornton Stadium's pitch, questioning why this match wasn't moved to the AVEVA Saber Cats Houston Pro stadium. Now, we're not here to complicate things, Coach—it's simply about availability. And while you're busy sizing up the field, maybe consider sizing up the fundamentals because, last I checked, the Steers haven't corralled back-to-back wins yet this season. I'm just saying—Tyler is known for great football and fútbol teams, but the focus today should be on elevating the level of the game. (You know I know, right?)

Now, onto the action that actually matters.

The Lady Stallions (2-7-2, 0-5-1) wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the floodgates early and often in a game that saw them outshoot the Steers (0-8, 0-7) by a staggering 39-3 margin. Genevieve Colon put NAU on the board in the 10th minute, finishing a perfect setup from Suzette Baltazar, who was a maestro in the midfield all afternoon.

By halftime, the Lady Stallions were already up 3-0. Alejandra Leal followed Colon's lead with a goal in the 18th minute—again with Baltazar orchestrating the attack. Then Maria Alejan Acosta added her name to the scoresheet at the 36-minute mark with a clean finish off a pass from Jocelyne Mendoza. This offense was firing on all cylinders, and it didn't stop there.

Texas College managed just one shot on goal, and Stallions' keeper Ava Wilson took care of that with ease, preserving a well-earned clean sheet. Salas, the Steers' goalkeeper, deserves a tip of the cap for making 18 saves, but there was no slowing down this stampede.

In the second half, the Lady Stallions turned up the pressure even more. Colon struck again in the 52nd minute with a rocket assisted by Crystal Gonzalez. And just a minute later, Acosta scored her second goal of the day before securing her hat trick in the 58th minute, all set up by—who else?—Suzette Baltazar. Three assists in one game? That's MVP material, folks.

Texas College's offense simply couldn't find its rhythm, limited to just three total shots, with Edlynne Rodriguez recording the only one on target. Meanwhile, NAU racked up 24 shots on goal, relentlessly testing the Steers' defense from start to finish.

Final score: North American University 6, Texas College 0. And while the Steers might still be sizing up fields, the Stallions are focused on sizing up wins.

Scoring Summary:

Final Stats:

  • Shots: NAU 39, Texas College 3
  • Shots on Goal: NAU 24, Texas College 1
  • Saves: NAU 1, Texas College 18
  • Corner Kicks: NAU 5, Texas College 0
  • Fouls: NAU 6, Texas College 7

It's a game of inches, but today it was a game of miles for the Stallions as they stampeded their way through the Steers. Stay tuned, folks—Texas soccer is on the rise, and it might just be coming through the gates of North American University.
