The North American University Women's Basketball team has launched their season, showing resilience and grit. Whether they're battling tough competition or claiming victory, this squad is here to represent with hard work and drive.

Game Recap: A Test of Grit Against McNeese State

In their most recent matchup, the Stallions faced the undefeated McNeese State (3-0) at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, LA. Despite a valiant effort, McNeese took control, using shooting and rebounding dominance to secure a 77-52 victory. The Stallions may not have clinched the win, but they delivered moments that could ignite a strong season.

McNeese started off strong, pulling ahead early with sharp shooting and relentless rebounding, finishing the first half up 35-18. The Stallions rallied in the third quarter, putting up their highest-scoring frame with 20 points, thanks to impactful plays from Victoria Moore and Kayla Dickey. McNeese, however, responded with balanced offense, solidifying their lead with a dominant fourth quarter.

Victoria Moore led the Stallions with 15 points, hitting three shots from deep (3-7 3PT), and adding 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Kayla Dickey kept NAU competitive, finishing with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, converting 8 of 10 free throws.
Maurdaisha Powell showed her defensive presence, adding 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Keasia Robinson chipped in 6 points and 3 rebounds, playing tough on defense.

McNeese State's Key Players:

McNeese was led by Mireia Yespes, who scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Tyrielle Williams added 11 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while Lyla Kahrimanovic contributed 11 points off the bench, with 7 rebounds.

McNeese shot 42.9% from the field and secured 57 rebounds compared to NAU's 28, which made a significant impact in the game.

Coach Davis and Coach White: Leading a New Era

Head Coach N. Davis and Assistant Coach JaQuia White are building something special here at NAU. In her second season, Coach White has proven to be a dynamic force, bringing her background as a four-year letterman at SMU and her graduate experience from Oklahoma Christian University to mold this team into a unit focused on precision, discipline, and relentless work ethic. Her commitment to player development and her sharp attention to detail were instrumental in last season's impressive 12-game improvement, leading the team to a 13-15 record. Coach Davis praised her impact, saying, "Coach White has been instrumental in our progress. Her leadership has pushed us forward in ways that words can hardly capture. This program is on the rise, and it's largely thanks to her dedication and vision."

Looking Ahead

This game was a valuable test, preparing the Stallions as they build on Coach Davis's vision for the season. Mark your calendars and show up strong at the next home game. Visit stallion.na.edu for the full schedule. Let's pack the stands and cheer our team on!
