Stallions Fight Through Tough Loss Against Oklahoma Panhandle State
Written by Rev. Justin C. Jackson

Goodwell, OK (Nov. 2, 2024) — The North American University Stallions Football Team faced another tough challenge in their 38-3 defeat at Oklahoma Panhandle State. Despite their grit and determination, the Stallions (0-9, 0-3) struggled to keep pace with a well-oiled Oklahoma Panhandle State (4-4, 3-3) offense, which surged early and maintained control through all four quarters.

Oklahoma Panhandle State set the tone early, scoring 14 points in the first quarter, including a 9-yard touchdown run by Martin Blake and an 85-yard bomb from Brandon Stephens to Blake for another touchdown. The Stallions, who are still in the hunt for their first victory, showed resilience in the second quarter, managing to get on the scoreboard with a 22-yard field goal from Cristobal Salgado, cutting the lead to 21-3 at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Aggies continue their offensive barrage. Blake punched in his second rushing touchdown of the day, a 20-yard run, and a 33-yard field goal from Carlos Vazquez pushed the lead further to 31-3. Oklahoma Panhandle State sealed the game with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Stephens to Jalen Partida in the final quarter.

Key Stats Breakdown:

  • North American's Passing Game: Jesper Korkalanien completed 19 of 33 passes for 179 yards, but the Stallions struggled to find the end zone with 4 interceptions.
  • Rushing Attack: Jaylen Joseph led the Stallions' ground game with 32 yards on 10 carries.
  • Oklahoma Panhandle State's Passing Game: Brandon Stephens threw for 237 yards, connecting with Martin Blake for two touchdowns, while Blake also added 135 yards on the ground with two rushing touchdowns.
  • Penalties: North American faced 15 penalties for 111 yards, a costly factor that kept them from establishing any consistent offensive rhythm.

Despite the scoreline, North American's defense put forth a valiant effort, with Jaheim Evans recording 5 tackles and Richard Crawford notching 4 total tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. However, the Aggies' offensive line was too much to handle, with Martin Blake's 118 yards receiving and 2 total touchdowns putting the game out of reach for the Stallions.

A Tough Road Ahead
The Stallions' season continues to be a test of perseverance and fortitude. As they work through challenges, the team's heart and spirit remain unshaken, and the effort on the field shows promise. The road to victory is still long, but the Stallions will keep pushing.
