NAU Endures Setback, Gears Up for Stronger Comeback

Stallions Stumble in Crowley: Lessons Learned in Tough Defeat

NAU Struggles Against Undefeated Texas Wesleyan

Crowley, TX– On a cloudy, warm evening in Crowley ISD Stadium, the North American University Stallions found themselves outmatched by an undefeated Texas Wesleyan squad, falling 80-0 in a game that tested every fiber of NAU's resolve.

Right from the 12:14 mark in the first quarter, Texas Wesleyan set the tone with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Carson Rodgers to Ernest Ceasar, which was just the beginning of a relentless offensive assault. Not long after, a defensive blow from TXWES in the form of an interception returned for a score by Jaysen Price put the Stallions in a 14-point hole before they'd even caught their breath.

The Stallions found themselves battling for yards against a Texas Wesleyan defense that was as unyielding as the 95-degree heat. Quarterback Jesper Korkalan pushed for 51 hard-earned yards, with Breezion Spiller contributing 46 and Charles Kirkwoo adding 31 more. But the Stallions offense couldn't break through the iron wall Texas Wesleyan had built, and despite a few promising drives, the scoreboard remained untouched for NAU.

Meanwhile, TXWES's Carson Rodgers looked like a man on a mission, throwing for 199 yards and leading the Rams on several successful drives. Ernest Ceasar kept the Stallions defense on its heels, with 83 rushing yards and a trio of touchdowns. As the game progressed, it seemed each possession for Texas Wesleyan ended with points, including a show-stopping 100-yard blocked field goal return by Jaysen Price in the fourth quarter.

The Stallions, now 0-2 on the season, showed heart, grit, and resilience in the face of this tough opponent. There's no question this team will use the lessons learned in this battle to sharpen their approach moving forward. Every setback is a setup for a comeback, and with the leadership of Coach Kenneth Apande and the spirit of NAU athletics, there's no doubt this squad will rise again.

For now, the Stallions will lick their wounds, refocus, and prepare to storm back stronger in their next outing.

Final score from Crowley ISD Stadium: Texas Wesleyan 80, North American 0.

Next Game: NAU looks to bounce back next week as they prepare for a bye week to gain their resolve and reignite their competitive fire. Keep your heads held high, Stallions. The season is just getting started.
