LADY STALLIONS BOUNCE BACK

FROM GRITTY DRAW TO DOMINANT RIVALRY WIN

From Grit to Glory: Lady Stallions Rally After Draw to Dominate Rival Texas College

Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson

Stafford, TX — It was a week of two tales for the North American University Lady Stallions — one of frustration and resolve, the other of redemption and domination. From a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Southwest to a commanding 3–0 shutout over Texas College, the Lady Stallions showed that when they get knocked down, they rise stronger, sharper, and louder.

October 9, 2025 – Lady Stallions Battle Southwest to a 1–1 Draw

Thursday's matchup against Southwest felt like a game the Stallions had to have, but just couldn't quite close out. After Southwest's Aleah Ortiz slipped one through in the 25th minute, NAU spent much of the night fighting uphill—testing the defense, finding flashes of rhythm, but coming up just short of the breakthrough.

That all changed in the 82nd minute when Alyssa Garcia connected off a setup from Genevieve Colon, burying the equalizer and igniting a brief roar from the stands. Goalkeeper Arely Sarabia was steady as ever with five saves, anchoring the Stallions through tense moments to secure the draw.

Statistically, NAU matched up evenly—11 total shots to Southwest's 12—and they showed the fight of a team that refuses to fold. But the real loss wasn't on the scoreboard; it was in the bleachers.

Only 105 fans witnessed that fight. In a school where pride should echo through every field and gym, the silence was deafening. If this were a midterm grade in school spirit, the campus earned a C-minus. Passion can't just live online—it's got to show up in person.

October 11, 2025 – Lady Stallions Dominate Rival Texas College 3–0

Two days later, the Lady Stallions took that same frustration and turned it into fuel. Under the Stafford lights, they delivered their most complete performance of the season against in-state rival Texas College—a matchup with more than a little emotion in the air.

Suzette "The Boss Lady" Baltazar was a woman on a mission, orchestrating and facilitating the offense like the field general she is. The first goal came just 9 minutes in, a stunning 40-plus yard strike that left the Texas College keeper frozen. The play built beautifully from the back — Garcia to Colon to Baltazar — a seamless chain of control that ended with a rocket that's already being talked about as a "Goal of the Week" candidate.

Moments later, Genevieve Colon added her own masterpiece, bringing the ball back to her left foot and burying it with precision for what could easily be the "Run and Score of the Week." Colon would go on to notch two goals and an assist, finishing with 8 shots on goal and owning every inch of the field.

Arely Sarabia recorded her first clean sheet of the season, backed by a backline that moved in unison and refused to yield an inch. NAU outshot Texas College 14–3 and set the tone from the first whistle to the final horn.

But once again, the attendance told a disappointing story — only 25 fans in the stands for a rivalry game. The parents and locals who showed up saw something special, but the absence of campus energy left an undeniable void.

Let's call it what it is: a failing grade in community engagement.

This program—built on the NAIA principle of Champions of Character—deserves a crowd that matches its heart. These young women play with integrity, discipline, and pride for their university. They're planting seeds for the next generation, showing what it looks like to compete with character and resilience.

Final Word

From a late equalizer to a rivalry statement win, the Lady Stallions embodied what true student-athletes stand for — grit, growth, and greatness.

Now it's time for North American University to rise with them.

Get those 4-fingered Hooves up and GOOOOOOO STALLIONSSSSSS!!!!!!
