Stallions Hold On Late to Upset Xavier

Strong Ball Movement, Dominant Rebounding, and Key Bench Production

Nail-Biting Finish

NAIA Men's Basketball – November 26, 2025 – Stafford MSN Gym

In a clash that had fans on the edge of their seats from tip-off to the final buzzer, the North American University Stallions stunned Xavier (La.) with a hard-fought 66-63 victory at home. With the win, NAU improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Xavier falls to 3-3 (0-1).

It was a game defined by clutch performances and disciplined execution down the stretch. Joseph Cormier led the charge for the Stallions, dropping 20 points with 8 rebounds, showcasing his ability to dominate both ends of the floor. Tevin Gowens orchestrated the offense masterfully, contributing 13 points and 7 assists, including several key buckets that kept NAU in control during the second half.

North American's interior presence was formidable, as Naheim Northern tallied a double-double with 12 rebounds and 6 points, while Kemani Wilson chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds, providing the Stallions with crucial second-chance opportunities. The bench also made its mark, as Jayden Jackson added 7 points and 3 boards, proving that NAU's depth can turn games in its favor.

The Stallions' defensive intensity was relentless. North American forced 17 turnovers, converting many into fast-break points that ultimately proved decisive. Despite Xavier's strong performance from Elijah Tate, who scored 22 points, and Seviuhn Turner's 13 points with 3 triples, the Stallions stayed composed under pressure, sealing the victory with smart ball movement and timely stops.

Head Coach [Insert Coach Name] praised his team's resilience, noting, "Our guys showed the heart and focus we've been working on in practice. We didn't panic when Xavier tried to push back—we executed, shared the ball, and trusted each other."

NAU fans witnessed a true Stallions' performance—a team that refuses to quit, a team that thrives in the clutch. The Stallions now turn their attention to their next matchup, hoping to keep the momentum rolling and the Stafford MSN Gym rocking.
