Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Stallions Control the Court and Send XULA Home Quiet

Shows Depth, Discipline, and Dominance in a 74–60 Victory

Lady Stallions Take Control and Stun XULA 74–60

North American University • Women's Basketball
November 26, 2025 — The Stable, Stafford, Texas

From the moment the ball tipped inside The Stable, it was clear the North American University Lady Stallions were ready to make a statement. What began as a tight, possession-for-possession battle quickly evolved into one of the most complete performances of the young season, as NAU powered past Xavier University of Louisiana, claiming a decisive 74–60 victory and improving to 3–1 on the year.

The opening quarter featured both teams feeling each other out, trading baskets and defensive stops with neither side giving much ground. But then came the second quarter—
and that's when the Lady Stallions took over the game entirely.

With intensity rising and the home crowd feeling the momentum shift, NAU erupted with a 24–8 explosion, flipping a one-point edge into a double-digit halftime lead. It was a stretch fueled by unselfish play, defensive commitment, and a level of composure that Xavier simply couldn't match. From that moment forward, NAU never looked back.

A Team Effort Fueled by Key Standouts

The engine behind the Lady Stallions' stampede was Savannah Velazquez, who once again showcased why she's the calming heartbeat of this roster. Efficient and patient, she delivered 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, handed out 7 assists, and added 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Every time NAU needed a steady possession, Velazquez orchestrated it.

Right alongside her was Jerkayla Dickey, bringing her signature all-around presence. Dickey finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Her ability to create plays—whether scoring, finding teammates, or controlling defensive boards—was a major reason NAU kept Xavier at arm's length.

In the paint, Keasia Robinson played big and played efficient, posting 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbing 6 rebounds. Her interior dominance opened driving lanes and forced XULA to adjust their defensive coverage.

Off the bench, two players brought undeniable momentum:
Akyra Hodges, whose high-energy minutes produced 11 points and 7 boards, and Aliyah Solis, who checked in and immediately caught fire from deep, knocking down three straight three-pointers for 9 huge points.

When NAU needed scoring runs, they delivered.
When they needed composure, they found it.
When they needed energy, the bench supplied it.

The entire roster contributed to a performance defined by balance—29 total field goals on 20 assists, and a commanding 42–21 rebounding advantage that set the tone physically and mentally.

A Statement Win with Momentum Behind It

Xavier (La.) attempted to claw back in the third quarter, but every push was answered by a Stallion run, a key rebound, or a well-executed offensive possession. NAU's discipline showed in the details: 55.8% shooting, only 8 turnovers from the starting lineup, and smart execution late in the game.

By the final buzzer, the Lady Stallions didn't just secure a win—they delivered a message. With leadership in the backcourt, impact in the paint, and contributions across the board, North American University displayed the type of identity that wins games and earns respect.

This was a performance built on effort, trust, and the belief that every player matters.
And tonight, every player showed up.
