This one wasn't pretty early — it was physical, it was gritty, and it was earned.
North American absorbed the punches in the first half and then delivered a statement in the second, pulling away from Our Lady of the Lake for a 73–54 win Saturday evening at the Stafford MSN Gym. After a tightly contested 26–24 halftime score, the Stallions turned the game on its head with a 47-point second half, imposing toughness, pressure, and perimeter energy that OLLU simply could not match.
The difference showed up in the post first — and then spilled out to the perimeter.
Naheim Northern (#45) set the tone in the paint, battling possession by possession and protecting the rim with authority, finishing with seven rebounds and a game-altering eight blocks. Northern's physical presence changed shots, changed confidence, and changed the flow of the game — the kind of performance that has earned him a USCAA and RRAC Player of the Week nomination.
That interior toughness ignited the perimeter dogs.
Oakley Lewis (#5) came off the bench bringing grown-man energy, attacking space, cleaning the glass, and finishing with 12 points and six rebounds.
Joseph Cormier (#13) was everywhere — posting a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while directing traffic, winning loose balls, and setting the emotional thermostat.
Kemani Wilson (#10) brought speed and pressure, forcing the action defensively and knocking down timely shots that stretched OLLU beyond its comfort zone.
That collective toughness was the defining difference.
At one point during the second half, the message from the opposing bench said it all — as the OLLU assistant coach was overheard telling his younger players, "We've got to be tougher." By then, it was clear: North American was already up for the battle.
Jamarric Hammond added 14 points to pace the Stallions offensively, while Jayden Jackson chipped in 11 points and six assists, knocking down perimeter shots that punished over-helping defenders. North American shot 46.7 percent from the floor, forced 17 turnovers, and controlled the tempo with discipline and edge down the stretch.
This one was about identity — toughness inside, pressure outside, and five Stallions moving as one unit.
Happy Holidays from North American Men's Basketball.
The Stallions return to action on January 3, 2026, hosting Xavier (La.) at 3:00 PM CST inside the Stafford MSN Gym.
