Taking Care of Business the Stallion Way

Louisiana Christian at North American

Louisiana Christian at North American
December 6, 2025 – Stafford, Texas
Final: North American 91, Louisiana Christian 74
(NAU 4–2, 2–1 USCAA)

The Stallions handled business with authority inside The Stable, powering past Louisiana Christian 91–74 in a complete team performance that showcased depth, discipline, and the signature North American toughness. NAU set the tone early with a 48–36 halftime lead, then continued to control the pace and the paint down the stretch to secure their second conference win.

Stallions Set the Tone Early

North American played one of its cleanest offensive games of the season, racking up 28 assists on 31 made field goals. The ball movement was crisp, the communication was constant, and the effort level never dipped as the Stallions dictated tempo from the opening tip.

Key Performers – The Stallion Standard

  • Naheim Northern dominated the interior with 24 points (8–12 FG) and 5 rebounds, setting the physical tone at the rim.

  • Oakley Lewis delivered pure efficiency, scoring 15 points on 5–6 shooting, attacking gaps and finishing strong at the basket.

  • Syncere L. Shaw was a sparkplug off the bench with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, continuing his steady ascent as one of the conference's top two-way reserves.

  • Jamarric Hammond added 11 points, keeping the offense balanced and fluid on the wings.

And the heartbeat of it all — Tevin Gowens, the Stallions' stabilizer, table-setter, and defensive anchor. Gowens finished with a career-best 13 assists, 3 steals, and elite positional control that transformed NAU's offense into a machine.

Coach's View

Head Coach Doze was clear in his praise of the veteran guard and his impact on the Stallions' success.

"Tevin is a real floor general," Coach Doze said. "He's a true playmaker who does everything it takes to get this team going. From setting the table with his assists, to defending the other team's best guard, to driving the ball for a score, to lulling the defense in before hitting the paint and kicking it out — he controls every possession the right way. He makes everyone around him better."

Gowens' nomination for USCAA Player of the Week highlights just how crucial he is to NAU's identity and rhythm.

Stallion DNA on Display

The Stallions shot an impressive 53.4% from the field, nearly 47.4% from deep, and won the rebounding battle 31–27 while keeping turnovers to a minimum. More importantly, North American played connected, enthusiastic basketball — talking on defense, sharing the ball, and embracing the physicality of conference play.

This wasn't just a win — it was taking care of business the Stallion Way.
