Set Piece Stings Stallions

Lady Stallions Fall in Dallas Duel

One Kick the Difference in Dallas

Dallas, TX (August 30, 2025) – On a humid Friday night under the lights on Simpson Stuart Road, the North American University Lady Stallions squared off against Paul Quinn College in what became a test of discipline, patience, and resolve.

The home-standing Tigers managed to edge out the Lady Stallions 1-0 in a chess-match style battle that was decided on a second-half set piece.

A Tale of Inches and Execution

For much of the first half, both teams probed but found little joy in breaking each other down. North American stood tall defensively, with goalkeeper Arely Sarabia providing leadership between the posts and the backline keeping Paul Quinn's attack largely at bay.

But in the 59th minute, the game turned. Paul Quinn's Mia Hawkins delivered a curling corner kick that found the boot of Cora Hurst, who struck cleanly from close range. It was the one moment of breakdown for the Lady Stallions' defense in an otherwise composed performance.

Lady Stallions Keep Fighting

Despite conceding, the Lady Stallions refused to fold. The attack began to open up, led by Genevieve Colon, who paced NAU with three shots, and Alyssa Garcia, who tested the keeper with dangerous attempts of her own. Leslie Moreno added another shot on goal, as the Lady Stallions pushed numbers forward in search of the equalizer.

Sarabia, calm and fearless, matched Paul Quinn's keeper save-for-save, finishing with five stops of her own to keep NAU within striking distance.

By the Numbers

  • Shots: NAU 7 (5 on goal), PQC 5 (4 on goal)

  • Saves: NAU – Sarabia (5), PQC – Rosas (5)

  • Corners: NAU 3, PQC 4

  • Fouls: 1 apiece

The stat sheet showed just how even this match was — two programs locked in a tactical duel where one set piece proved to be the difference.

Looking Ahead

The Lady Stallions leave Dallas knowing they went toe-to-toe and had their chances. Now, the focus shifts to their next test: a home matchup against Schreiner University on September 5th at 3:00 PM CDT. Expect the Lady Stallions to regroup, reload, and return sharper.

This team is built on resilience — and one game won't define them.

Get those 4 fingered Hooves up and Goooooooo Stallionsssss!!!!!!!!!!!
