Stallions Battle in Alexandria, Fall to LSU Alexandria on the Road

NA shows second-half fight but can’t overcome a fast-starting Generals

ALEXANDRIA, La. — North American University men's basketball ran into a hot-shooting LSU Alexandria squad Thursday night, falling 87–65 at The Fort on January 22.

The Stallions (11-7, 7-6) were tested early by a Generals team (13-6, 10-3) that set the tone from the opening tip. LSU Alexandria shot efficiently in the first half and used balanced scoring to build a 48–28 advantage at the break. North American found offensive rhythm in stretches but struggled to string together stops against an LSUA lineup that knocked down shots from both inside and beyond the arc.

Despite the halftime deficit, the Stallions showed resilience in the second half, scoring 37 points and competing possession by possession. Joseph Cormier led North American with 18 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting night, including three triples, while Oakley Lewis added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench. Kemani Wilson chipped in nine points and five boards, and Jamarric Hammond contributed seven rebounds while going a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line.

LSU Alexandria finished the night shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range, placing six players in double figures. EJ McQuillan paced the Generals with 17 points, while Jordan Decuir added 15.

While the Generals controlled the scoreboard, the broadcast airwaves got a little competitive as well. During the call, LSUA broadcaster Mr. Nathan took a few playful jabs at the North American broadcast crew, suggesting a little too much "home cooking" on our side of the mic. Consider this the official SID response: shots acknowledged, shots returned. We love the passion, we love the rivalry, and we absolutely love when personalities make the game bigger than the box score. Mr. Nathan, bring all the smoke — we'll be ready, our friends at Antler Sports will be notified to return the favor, and we'll see you again when it matters most at the tournament. All love… but we're keeping the receipts.

North American now turns the page quickly, as the upcoming men's and women's basketball games against Louisiana Christian University have been moved up to today with the same scheduled game times. Fans can catch all the action live via the LCU Athletics broadcast, available on the Wildcats' official streaming channel.

The Stallions remain focused on conference positioning as the season pushes toward the postseason, carrying lessons learned, competitive edge sharpened, and confidence intact as the road continues.
