TEXARKANA, Texas — North American delivered a composed and resilient performance Saturday afternoon, earning a 63-61 Red River Athletic Conference victory over Texas A&M–Texarkana inside the Patterson Student Center.
In a tightly contested game that featured nine lead changes and multiple momentum swings, the Stallions leaned on defensive execution, rebounding balance, and free-throw efficiency to close out the two-point win.
With the victory, North American sets a new program record for wins in a single season — a testament to the team's consistency and growth throughout the year.
Game Breakdown
North American established control early, building a steady rhythm in the first half. The Stallions shot efficiently from the perimeter and limited second-chance opportunities, taking a 30-27 lead into halftime.
The second half evolved into a physical, possession-by-possession battle. Texas A&M–Texarkana responded behind Deovaunta Williams' 28-point effort, applying pressure defensively and attacking downhill in transition.
The difference came in execution.
North American converted 20-of-25 free throws (80 percent), including key makes in the final minutes. In a two-point game on the road, that efficiency proved decisive.
Defensively, the Stallions forced 14 turnovers and held the Eagles to 25 percent from three-point range. While North American shot 36.7 percent from the field, their ability to control pace and finish possessions preserved the narrow advantage.
