Texarkana,TX - In another Spring Homecoming atmosphere combined with Senior Day emotion, the Lady Stallions simply didn't look like themselves.
North American (14-8, 12-7) fell to Texas A&M–Texarkana (18-8, 16-4) 74-40 on Saturday afternoon in a game that flipped in the second quarter and never returned.
And give credit where it's due. Every RRAC coach has been saying it — Texas A&M–Texarkana is the most underrated team in the conference.
They're disciplined. They're well-coached. They have three players who can score in the space of a phone booth. And their team defense? It gets after the ball for forty minutes.
Saturday, that pressure told the story.
Game Flow
The first quarter was even — 15-15. The Stallions were engaged, competing on the glass, matching intensity.
Then the second quarter hit. North American scored just 2 points in the entire frame. Two. Yes I Know........!
TAMUT responded with an 18-2 run and completely shifted momentum. From that point forward, the Lady Stallions were chasing the game instead of controlling it.
Fatigue showed. Shot selection slipped. Ball security wavered.
North American finished:
Against a team that thrives on pressure defense, those numbers are hard to survive.
Stat Leaders
Despite the outcome, there were competitive efforts:
But the usual offensive rhythm wasn't there. Leadership pieces like Aliyah Solis and Savannah Velazquez combined for 6 points on 2-17 shooting — a tough night for a unit that normally sets the tone.
On the other side:
-
Chi'onne Dailey – 16 points, 7 assists
-
Breyionce George – 14 points, 12 rebounds
-
Texarkana forced 20 turnovers and collected 21 steals
That's defensive discipline.
That's preparation.
That's why coaches across the league respect them.
Bigger Than One Game
Here's the truth.
This team has carried heavy minutes. Emotional games. Travel. Homecoming energy. Senior Day weight. That adds up.
But championship teams respond.
Women's basketball at this level is about resilience. About owning the bad nights. About tightening rotations, valuing possessions, and bringing energy regardless of circumstance.
North American still sits in a strong national position. One game doesn't erase the body of work.
But this game is a reminder: March doesn't reward potential. It rewards preparation. The Lady Stallions will regroup. Refocus. And recalibrate.
Because great teams don't hide from losses — they learn from them. And this group still has work to finish.
