Stafford, Texas — Inside The Stable, the Lady Stallions came out like a team that understood the assignment.
North American (16–8, 13–8) took command early and never let Jarvis Christian find comfort, securing a 66–53 victory Thursday night at Stafford MSN Gym.
The tone was set in the opening quarter. A 14–5 start told the story before the story even got written. But it was the second quarter explosion (24–9) that broke this one open. Ball movement. Defensive pressure. Paint touches. Free throws. That's Stallion basketball.
By halftime, it was 38–14 — and from there, it became about composure.
Jarvis Christian made a third-quarter push, scoring 22 points to test North American's resolve. But this group didn't panic. They didn't splinter. They settled in and finished.
That's growth.
Who Stepped Up
Lauren Vela led the charge with 17 points and went 7-of-8 from the line. When it was time to ice possessions, she delivered.
Jerkayla Dickey nearly walked out with a double-double — 13 points and 9 rebounds — controlling the glass and giving North American second-chance opportunities.
Akyra Hodges impacted both ends with 11 points and four steals. Active hands change games.
And then there was the floor general.
Aliyah Solis handed out 8 assists with zero turnovers. Eight assists. No giveaways. That's leadership at the point.
The Lady Stallions finished with 22 assists as a team and shot a near-perfect 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the free-throw line. Championship habits are built at the stripe in February.
The Difference
North American won this game with discipline and detail. They edged Jarvis Christian on the glass 41–38, shared the basketball at a high level with 22 assists, and nearly shot perfection from the free-throw line at 92.9 percent. They controlled the tempo early, forced 16 turnovers, and never allowed momentum to fully swing. No technical fouls. No distractions. Just mature, composed basketball when it mattered most.
North American continues to stack wins the right way — defending first, sharing the basketball, and closing games with maturity.
Inside The Stable, the standard is clear.
And the Lady Stallions are playing like a team that understands what's at stake.
