Coach Ni’Kia Davis was named the third head coach of North American University’s women’s basketball program on April 18, 2024. Davis originally signed to be the assistant coach for the Lady Stallions’ 2023 season and was promoted to interim coach prior to the start of the season.
In his first year as interim head coach, Davis led the Lady Stallions to an overall record of 14-15 with a conference record of 11-11 which earned them the 4th spot in the RRAC (highest seed in program history). The Lady Stallions exceeded both win totals from the previous seasons. The 14-win season is a new record for the Lady Stallions since the program began in 2019.
The Lady Stallions had a great showing with individual honors during the 2023-24 season. Kiearra Rivers was named to the RRAC All-Conference First Team; while Victoria Moore was named to the Second Team, and Chay Scott was selected to the All-Champions of Character Team.
Coach Davis comes to NAU after spending 1 year as the head coach of the boys’ and girls' basketball programs at British International School of Houston (BISH). During his time in BISH, he guided the Bulldogs to 5 wins for the boys’ varsity team, a 4-win improvement from previous year and most since the program was established. He also guided the women’s varsity program through their first inaugural season with a 3-win season in the first year.
Before arriving to BISH, Coach Davis served as the JV coach for Harbor Rams (Morgans Point) from 2007-2009 and assistant varsity coach 2013-2015.
Coach Davis is currently in the process of finishing his bachelor’s degree from North American University in Business. Coach Davis and his partner, Tracey, have four children: Kayden, Ni'kia Jr(jojo), Kamryn and Jayce and reside in the Sugarland area.
