Stallions Fall to Xavier University of Louisiana, 68-58, in Hard-Fought Battle
The North American University Stallions (3-4, 1-2) faced off against the Xavier University of Louisiana Gold Rush (3-2, 2-1) on November 21, 2024, at The Stable. Despite a strong first-half effort that saw the Stallions leading 32-30 at halftime, the Gold Rush stormed back in the second half to secure a 68-58 victory.
Key Moments of the Game
The Stallions displayed solid teamwork and defensive intensity early, holding Xavier to just 42.9% from beyond the arc in the first half. However, Xavier's second-half adjustments, led by sharpshooter Jathen Ross, who nailed 6 of 8 three-point attempts, proved too much to overcome. Xavier outscored North American 38-26 in the second half, fueled by better ball movement and bench contributions.

Coach's Perspective
Head Coach B. Doze acknowledged the team's effort but emphasized the need for consistency:
"We've got to close out better defensively and maintain focus for 40 minutes. Joseph and Jamarric gave us great energy, but we need more aggression across the board."
Fan Takeaways
The Stallion faithful called for more assertiveness from players like Tevin Gowens and Desmond Green, who have shown flashes of leadership and skill in prior games. Green, with his rebounding and defensive instincts, is a potential difference-maker who could step up in future contests.
Next Up
The Stallions look to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming game as they continue to navigate a challenging USCAA schedule. Coach Doze and his squad will need full-court energy and contributions from all positions to turn things around.
