HOUSTON, Texas – In a physical and emotionally charged contest at Ronald Thornton Stadium, the North American University Stallions fought to a hard-earned 1-1 draw against Xavier University of Louisiana on Saturday afternoon.

It didn't take long for the Stallions to strike first. In the 8th minute, Jose Carlos Dos Santos continued to prove why he's one of the team's emotional anchors and technical leaders, finding the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Flynn Faulkner and Alejandro Perez. Dos Santos' finish showcased not only his composure but his ability to set the tone early — a reflection of the leadership he brings both on and off the pitch.

As the match grew tense and physical, Dos Santos' steady presence helped calm the Stallions and keep the team focused. His leadership has become a defining force for this NAU squad — a blend of poise, maturity, and passion that guides his teammates through every heated moment.

Xavier answered quickly in the 10th minute with a goal from Iman Ouedraogo, leveling the match at 1-1. From there, both sides battled fiercely, with a combined eight yellow cards issued as emotions ran high.

Goalkeeper Gino Burioni stood tall for North American, registering four saves to preserve the draw. Despite the tie, the Stallions showed discipline and heart, controlling much of the tempo in the second half and nearly breaking through late.

The result moves North American to 4-7-2 (3-4-1 RRAC), while Xavier (La.) improves to 8-2-2 (5-1-1 RRAC).
