NAIA Women's Basketball 2025–26
Our Lady of the Lake 76, North American 72
December 20, 2025 | Stafford, Texas
North American University Women's Basketball delivered a gritty, high-energy performance Saturday afternoon, but a late push by Our Lady of the Lake resulted in a 76–72 decision inside the Stafford MSN Gym. The Stallions controlled the early pace, won the opening quarter, and showed their trademark defensive pressure, yet the contest ultimately came down to execution in the closing minutes.
Savannah Velazquez led all Stallions with a poised and efficient showing, scoring 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Her ability to command both ends of the floor kept NAU within striking distance throughout. Akyra Hodges continued her strong stretch of play off the bench, contributing 16 points, four assists, four steals, and a block, while Aliyah Solis knocked down three three-pointers and finished with 11 points, providing a spark during key stretches.
Defensively, North American forced 23 turnovers, turning pressure into opportunities and refusing to let the game slip away quietly. The Stallions battled through every possession, answering runs and keeping the energy high from start to finish.
While the result didn't fall their way, the message across the Red River Athletic Conference remains unchanged. As the reigning USCAA National Champions and an associate member in a wide-open RRAC race, North American continues to be the standard opponents measure themselves against. Every matchup against the Stallions carries weight—and every win against them is viewed as a statement.
The Stallions also extend a heartfelt thank you to the 157 fans who packed the gym and chose to support women's basketball in person. Being in the building matters. To those watching from home, thank you for your continued engagement—keep liking, commenting, and subscribing to Only On Clutch Sports Network, as they continue to spotlight the best in H-Town athletics.
North American will return to action on January 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM CST, hosting Xavier University of Louisiana at the Stafford MSN Gym. Until then, the Stallions wish their supporters a happy and safe holiday season as the chase for the top spot resumes in the new year.
