Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Stallions Stay Unbeaten

Outlast LSU Alexandria in a Powerhouse RRAC–USCAA Tipoff

A battle of elite coaches, future pros, and two national-level programs ends with North American taking control.

Stafford,TX - Last night inside The Stable wasn't just another game—this was a certified showcase of two of the best women's basketball programs across the NAIA and USCAA landscape. On one side: the 2025 Red River Athletic Conference runner-ups, LSU Alexandria. On the other: the reigning USCAA National Champions, your undefeated North American University Lady Stallions.

And let's get this straight early… this wasn't just top-tier basketball, this was a masterclass led by four of the best coaches in the women's basketball world.
Yeah, I said it. Not just college—the WHOLE WORLD, Craig!

Coach Nikkia Davis, Sr. and Assistant Coach JaQuia White battled against Coach Billy Perkins and Coach Celesta Perkins, two of the strongest culture-builders in small-college athletics. Their standards? High GPAs, high character, high expectations. They prove every season that excellence is bigger than the 94×50 feet of hardwood these young women compete on.

And both teams brought rosters stacked with future WNBA picks, EuroLeague talent, and pro-ready hoopers. Scouts, take notes—you'll be calling these names again.

THE GAME STORY

The first half was a grind-it-out chess match—tied 11–11 after the first quarter and down just one at halftime, 26–25. Neither team blinked, both coaching staffs adjusting on the fly, waiting for the moment momentum would break free.

Then came the third quarter.

North American unleashed 24 points in that frame, tightening the screws defensively and pushing the tempo with purpose. LSU Alexandria tried to counter, but the Lady Stallions' burst lifted the entire gym.

By the fourth, NAU had seized total control, closing out the night with discipline, toughness, and championship composure.

Final: North American 65 – LSU Alexandria 55
Lady Stallions rise to 4–0 (2–0 RRAC).

LADY STALLIONS – TOP PERFORMERS

Maurdaisha Powell — 14 pts, 6 reb, 4 stl, 2 blk
The tone-setter. Powered the engine all night with relentless pressure and timely buckets.

Jerkayla Dickey — 12 pts, 7 reb, 5 stl
A walking disruption. When she locks in defensively, passing lanes disappear.

Savannah Velazquez — 6 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast
The floor general setting the tempo with poise and purpose.

Aliyah Solis — 10 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast (Off the Bench)
Instant spark plug. Energy, scoring, and playmaking—her impact changed the rhythm of the game.

Peyton Overton — 3 pts, 4 reb, 2 stl, 2 ast
Sometimes the second wave of energy, sometimes the fearless enforcer, always the born playmaker. Her reads, pressure, and pace gave NAU crucial momentum shifts.

Keasia Robinson — 8 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 2 blk/altered shots
A sneaky difference-maker. A natural rim protector—she may not always record the block, but the shot always changes when #23 is nearby.

Akyra Hodges & Ja'naa Johnson — 8 combined points
Valuable minutes, strong drives, and dependable rotation play.

THE LSU ALEXANDRIA SIDE

The Generals played with grit and physicality. Stephens, Goff, and Norris each finished with 11 points, and Justice Young controlled the boards with 9 rebounds. But their 28 turnovers proved costly against a Stallion squad built on forcing mistakes and capitalizing on chaos.

THE FINAL WORD — STALLION NATION STAND UP

Last night showcased everything this team is built on:
Depth. Defense. Discipline. Culture.
The Lady Stallions remain undefeated and continue to look every bit like a championship-caliber program ready to make noise far beyond conference play.

If you weren't in The Stable last night, you missed a heavyweight matchup featuring future pros, elite coaches, and another signature win from a Lady Stallion team on the rise.
