SHREVEPORT, La. — It was LSU Shreveport's Homecoming. The Dock was full. The energy was loud. A conference championship was within reach.
And North American didn't make it easy.
The Stallions battled for 40 minutes Thursday night but ultimately fell 101–93 as LSUS clinched a share of the Red River Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
First and foremost — credit where it's due.
Congratulations to LSU Shreveport on securing the RRAC crown and extending a remarkable run of national tournament appearances. Championships aren't handed out — they're earned.
But make no mistake — NAU showed fight.
North American trailed just 52–46 at halftime, and midway through the second half, the Stallions erased the deficit and tied the game 61–61 with 15:27 to play. On LSUS' Homecoming night, with banners ready and celebration waiting, NAU forced them to earn every possession.
That's competitive basketball.
Joseph Cormier led the Stallions with 23 points, attacking the rim and knocking down four threes.
Naheim Northern delivered 19 points and 8 rebounds, bringing energy on both ends.
Oakley Lewis added 18 points off the bench, shooting efficiently and keeping pressure on the Pilots' defense.
Jamarric Hammond filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, doing a little bit of everything.
North American shot 46.6% from the field and 81% from the free-throw line, but LSUS countered with elite efficiency — shooting over 55% overall and over 56% from three — while winning the rebounding battle 40–32 and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.
That was the difference.
On a night built for celebration in Shreveport, the Stallions showed resilience and heart. They didn't fold under the atmosphere. They competed.
And that matters as March approaches.
Respect Where It's Due
A special acknowledgment to LSU Shreveport's Sports Information Director, Jessieca Carr, for her outstanding coverage and continued leadership among RRAC communicators. She represents the conference with excellence — and does so while proudly representing two of the world's most impactful sororities. That visibility and professionalism matter.
Shout out as well to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Homecoming Court members, Gamma Sigma Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, and all of the Greek organizations who showed up to celebrate tradition the right way.
And to every RRAC, SAC, and HBCU institution hosting Spring Homecomings — keep those traditions alive. They matter to campuses, communities, and culture.
North American falls to 15-9 overall and 11-8 in conference play, but the season is far from defined. The Stallions didn't back down in a championship environment. And that's a sign of a team that still has work left to do. March is coming and this group is still dangerous. Here We Come USCAA!!

North American vs. Texas A&M University–Texarkana
After a hard-fought battle at LSU Shreveport on Homecoming night, the Stallions shift their attention to Texas A&M–Texarkana, a familiar Red River Athletic Conference competitor that has pushed NAU in recent matchups. Historically, this series has been competitive — the teams have split recent meetings, with NAU and TAMUT each claiming wins in closely contested games.
North American currently sits 3rd in the nation in the USCAA rankings, and this upcoming game is another opportunity to build momentum before the national tournament in Buffalo, New York. Every possession counts as the Stallions continue to shape their legacy, and this group is primed to compete hard from tip to buzzer.
