Lady Stallions Fall in Overtime Barn Burner on Cowboy Night

DayDay vs DeDe and Dickey vs Martin #RRAC Matchups

San Antonio, TX — In front of a lively Cowboy Night crowd at Mabee Gymnasium, the North American Lady Stallions were locked into a classic barn burner, pushing Our Lady of the Lake to the deep water before a 66–65 overtime decision on Thursday night.

North American stampeded from the opening tip, matching OLLU possession for possession through four quarters and into overtime in one of the tightest contests of the season. Neither team led by more than six points in regulation, and the Lady Stallions forced overtime with late-game defensive stops and timely baskets down the stretch.

Key Performers & Moments

Jerkayla Dickey delivered a complete performance, leading all Lady Stallions with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and an active 6 steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor.

Maurdaisha Powell added 16 points, shooting efficiently from the field and knocking down key baskets in both the fourth quarter and overtime to keep North American within striking distance.
Savannah Velazquez controlled the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds, helping North American finish with a 49–45 rebounding advantage.
Akyra Hodges provided a spark off the bench, scoring 6 points and contributing on the defensive end during critical stretches.

North American won the rebounding battle, generated extra possessions with 16 offensive rebounds, and forced OLLU into contested looks throughout the night, holding the Saints to 38.1% shooting.

Coach's Corner

In the world of eGaming, I always say this: the team that wins the rebounding battle and limits turnovers usually wins close games.

North American did exactly that — out-rebounding OLLU 49–45 and committing fewer turnovers (16 to 17). Those are winning numbers in a game that goes to overtime.

Where this one was decided was at the free-throw line.

Our Lady of the Lake finished 14-for-20 (70%), while the Lady Stallions went 9-for-18 (50%) — a 20% free-throw differential in a one-point overtime game. When the margins are that thin, every trip to the stripe matters.
