Lady Stallions Tame Jaguars in the Jaguar Den

NA controls the glass and the tempo in a 79–68 road win at TAMUSA

Women's Basketball Recap

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Lady Stallions stepped into the Jaguar Den on Thursday night with purpose, composure, and a clear understanding of the moment, leaving Texas A&M–San Antonio with a 79–68 road victory. From the opening tip, North American University dictated pace, won the physical battles, and stacked quarters like a veteran group that knows February basketball is about execution.

NAU set the tone early with an 18–10 first-quarter lead, defending with discipline and finishing possessions on the glass. The Stallions carried that edge into halftime before delivering their most complete stretch in the third quarter, scoring 24 points to create separation and seize full control of the contest.

Key Players

Jerkayla Dickey led the way with a commanding 22-point, 11-rebound double-double, anchoring the interior and setting the physical tone on both ends. Savannah Velazquez provided a spark off the bench, finishing with 15 points and five assists, changing tempo and keeping the offense in rhythm. Ja'naa Johnson owned the glass with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Aliyah Solis stretched the floor, knocking down three three-pointers on her way to 11 points.

Inside The Lines

North American shot 42.0 percent from the field while holding TAMUSA to 34.3 percent, a defensive edge that defined the night. The Lady Stallions won the rebounding battle 50–39, scored 44 points in the paint, and converted defense into offense with 22 points off turnovers. NAU built a 20-point largest lead, maintaining control through execution rather than spurts, as both teams finished with 18 turnovers.

Playing inside the Jaguar Den, NAU showed poise beyond the box score, answering every run with discipline. Credit is also due to Madison Mendes and Jose Berra of the Texas A&M–San Antonio Jaguar Sports Network, who delivered a polished and energetic student broadcast that captured the atmosphere and spotlighted the growth of Jaguar Athletics.

What's Next

As the calendar turns toward postseason basketball, the focus sharpens. The RRAC Tournament picture is forming, and North American continues preparation to represent the RRAC in the USCAA. Every outing now doubles as a tune-up and a test, and the Lady Stallions remain a team capable of shifting brackets and playing spoiler down the stretch.

The message from San Antonio was clear: this group is connected, disciplined, and building momentum at the right time.
