Stallions Women Make Waves at 74th TSU Relays

Gonzalez and Williams Turn Heads

Track Meets Talent in Motion

HOUSTON, Texas — The 74th TSU Relays are one of the nation's most historic and competitive track meets, bringing teams from across all levels to test speed, strength, and endurance on a fast track. For North American University, it was a weekend that proved even a small team can make a big splash.

Sophomore Elina Gonzalez, who shocked the cross country and distance world last year with record-breaking performances, returned to the track after taking time off from cross country to focus on her sprint and middle-distance events. Gonzalez ran the 400m in 1:13.63, showing that her dedication to the sport is paying off as she transitions seamlessly between disciplines.

Freshman Laila Williams continues to ride the USCAA Wave. After making the USCAA Championship basketball team last season, Williams chose to redshirt for track to focus on basketball—but now she's back on the track, and the competition is already feeling her presence. Williams posted 13.68 in the 100m and 18.88 in the 100m hurdles, leaving a mark as a dual-sport phenom and an athlete to watch in the RRAC.

Though the women's team had only two competitors this weekend, their performances were a statement: talent, determination, and versatility run deep in the Stallions program. History at the TSU Relays is rich, but Gonzalez and Williams are already carving their own names into the record books.
