Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson
The North American University women's track & field team took the track at the Carl Knight Collegiate Invitational with determination and purpose. While the results show times and placements, the real story is the versatility and commitment displayed by a group willing to compete across multiple events and continue building week by week.

Williams Leads the Charge
Freshman Laila Williams showcased her versatility, competing in three events:
- 100m – 13.64
- 100m Hurdles – 18.53
- 200m – 29.34
Taking on both sprinting and hurdles in the same meet reflects the type of athlete—and mindset—the Lady Stallions are developing.
Gonzalez Anchors the Mid-Distance Group
Sophomore Elina Gonzalez continued to provide consistency for NAU, competing in both:
- 400m – 1:08.71
- 800m – 2:57.86
Her ability to double back across events highlights the endurance and commitment that define this roster.
More Than Results—It's About Growth
While some events saw DNS marks, the willingness to enter multiple disciplines shows a team that is still developing, still learning, and still pushing forward.
That matters.
Because programs on the rise aren't built overnight—they're built through reps, through races, and through resilience.
Women's Team Takeaway
This is a group laying the foundation. Each meet, each race, each event adds another layer to what this program is becoming.
And if you're paying attention—you can see the progress.

Women's Stallions Stable Talk MVP: Laila Williams
Three events.
Sprint and hurdles.
No hesitation.
Williams continues to show she's willing to do whatever the team needs—and that's how programs grow.
Up Next
The Stallions will continue their outdoor season as they prepare for their next meet, looking to build on a strong showing filled with personal bests and growing momentum. With each competition, North American University Track & Field remains focused on sharpening execution, increasing depth across events, and continuing to develop student-athletes who are willing to compete wherever the team needs them.
