SENIOR DAY IN THE STABLE
Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson
Stafford, TX — Senior Day in The Stable. Rival in the building. Emotions high.
And the Lady Stallions? They didn't just show up to be celebrated.
They showed up to compete.
Inside Stafford MSN Gym, North American University delivered a disciplined, senior-led performance to defeat arch rival Texas College 72–47, closing out the regular season at home with authority.
This wasn't a ceremony.
This was a statement.
First Quarter – Feel the Moment, Control the Game
North American took a 13–10 lead after the first quarter, setting the tone defensively. Rotations were tight. Closeouts were intentional. Texas College was forced into contested looks from the opening tip.
Senior Day energy can sometimes create nerves.
Not with this group.
Second Quarter – Discipline Over Emotion
By halftime, the Lady Stallions extended the lead to 31–25. The ball moved with purpose. The shot selection was clean. The defense stayed active.
Texas College shot just 23.8% from the field for the game. That doesn't happen because shots "just don't fall."
That happens when a team commits to the scouting report.
Third Quarter – Championship Response
Now here's where the broadcasters circle it in red ink.
The third quarter.
North American exploded for a 20–8 run and broke the game open. Defensive stops turned into transition points. Paint touches created kick-outs. The Stable crowd felt the shift.
That's senior poise.
That's leadership.
That's understanding what the moment demands.
By the Numbers
The Lady Stallions shot 47.3% from the field and 55.6% from three-point range.
They dominated the glass 45–27.
They recorded 19 assists on 26 made baskets.
That's connected basketball.
Senior Leadership on Display
Savannah Velazquez filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists — controlling tempo like a seasoned floor general.
Aliyah Solis delivered 13 points, knocking down 3-of-4 from deep while adding three steals defensively. Big shots. Big moments.
Keasia Robinson anchored inside with eight points and seven rebounds, setting the tone physically.
Jerkayla Dickey added 10 off the bench, and Maurdaisha Powell chipped in eight key points to keep the pressure on.
This wasn't about one hero.
This was about a senior class that understands how to win.
