Chow Down Responsibly: A Stallion Hamburger Day Celebration
Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson

Classes may be out for the summer, but the grind never completely stops at North American University.

Some Stallions are training.
Some are working summer jobs.
Some are in the weight room chasing bigger goals.
Some are taking a much-needed break after a long academic and athletic season.
And some are just trying to survive Houston heat with a burger and some AC.

No matter where you are this summer, today is a day to celebrate one of the global MVPs of food culture — the hamburger.

That's right. Happy Hamburger Day from the Stallion Family.

Now before somebody loads up a triple stack burger with enough grease to bench press a small vehicle, let's remember:

Be a Hamburgurler.
Chow Down Responsibly.

Like those famous beverage commercials say — enjoy responsibly. Same rules apply here. Burgers are undefeated after road trips, gym sessions, gaming marathons, summer workouts, and late-night squad link-ups… but balance still matters.

And at a university as international and diverse as North American University, food is one thing that brings everybody together.

Whether you grew up eating American cheeseburgers, Turkish köfte sandwiches, sliders, shawarma-style beef wraps, South American beef dishes, Korean bulgogi, Nigerian street food, or Mediterranean grilled meats — the burger has become a worldwide language. Every culture puts its own spin on it.

That's part of what makes NAU special.

One table can have students from five different countries debating:

ketchup vs. spicy sauce,
pickles vs. no pickles,
smashburgers vs. thick burgers,
and whether pineapple belongs anywhere near grilled meat.

Happy Hamburger Day
(That debate may never end.)

Summer is also the perfect time for students and athletes to reset their nutrition habits before the next season begins.

For students:

Don't let summer turn into energy drinks and fast food every day.
Add fruits, grilled foods, and more water into the rotation.
Late-night burger runs hit different, but moderation matters.

For athletes:

Summer nutrition is part of summer training.
Lean proteins, hydration, recovery meals, and smarter portions help prepare for preseason camps.
Burgers can still fit into the plan — just build them smarter.
Grilled chicken burgers, turkey burgers, veggie options, or lean beef can still deliver flavor without slowing you down.

Because let's be honest…

Nobody wants to report back for preseason conditioning moving like the offensive linemen from a 1987 football movie.

Now speaking of burgers…

North American University would like to thank our previous sponsor, Whataburger, for supporting the Stallion family. Many students, athletes, coaches, and staff members have survived long nights thanks to those orange-and-white stripes.

But as we all know in college athletics these days…

The Burger Transfer Portal is officially OPEN.

We're keeping our recruiting boards active.

Houston's own Trill Burgers already has the city buzzing thanks to Bun B.

Wahlburgers is in the scouting reports with Mark Wahlberg backing the program.

And somewhere out there, we know James Harden probably has NIL burger connections ready for a visit.

We're just saying… the Stallions have eligibility available.

Until then, enjoy the summer.
Take a load off.
Spend time with family and friends.
Train smart.
Eat smarter.
And celebrate Hamburger Day the Stallion way.

One burger won't hurt.
Five burgers and no water in Houston heat?
Now you're entering the transfer portal to the training room.

Happy Hamburger Day from North American University Athletics.
