Repeat Champions of Character: Joseph "The Sniper" Figueroa and Suzette "The Boss Lady" Baltazar Lead the Stallions with Integrity and Heart
Stafford, Texas — When the word champion gets mentioned around North American University, two names rise to the top: Joseph Figueroa and Suzette Baltazar. Both senior captains have once again been named Champions of Character, marking their second straight year earning one of the most respected honors in collegiate athletics.
These two veterans represent everything the NAIA Five Core Values stand for — Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. Both Joseph Figueroa and Suzette Baltazar have built their legacy not just through goals and wins, but through how they carry themselves on and off the pitch.
Known to fans as "The Sniper," Joseph Figueroa has become a name opponents circle and teammates admire. His precision, composure, and ability to strike from anywhere make him one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in NAU history. Last season, he stunned the crowd with a 43-yard free kick, a moment still replayed in highlight reels across campus.
Meanwhile, "The Boss Lady" Suzette Baltazar brings the same energy and leadership from the women's side of the field. Earlier this season, she answered her co-captain's feat with a 41-yard rocket of her own. Beyond her scoring, Baltazar controls the midfield like a true general — setting up plays, providing key assists, and anchoring the team defensively when the game is on the line.
Both have worn the captain's armband with pride, setting the tone for what it means to be a Stallion — disciplined, determined, and devoted. On Senior Day, their teammates and fans honored their unmatched contributions, not only as standout players but as examples of excellence and character.
