WACO, Texas — We have a winner, and she's wearing Navy Blue, Gray, and White.
North American University junior guard Jerkayla Dickey has been named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Sunday. The honor covers games played from Jan. 19–25 and marks the 11th weekly award release of the 2025–26 season.
According to the RRAC website, "Junior guard Jerkayla Dickey totaled 42 points last week, adding six assists, nine steals, and two blocks." Those numbers reflect not just production, but control—control of tempo, control of moments, and control of pressure situations when games were hanging in the balance.
Let's go straight to the numbers.
In NAU's road matchup against LSU Alexandria, Dickey put on a scorer's clinic, finishing with a game-high 26 points and repeatedly attacking the rim, earning 16 trips to the free-throw line and converting 13 of them. Every time the Stallions needed an answer, Dickey delivered, keeping NAU within striking distance throughout the contest.
That momentum carried into the matchup against Louisiana Christian, where Dickey once again set the tone in a pivotal 58–55 Stallion victory. She scored 16 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range, while also filling the stat sheet with four assists and five steals. On both ends of the floor, she dictated pace, disrupted passing lanes, and made winning plays when possessions mattered most.
The RRAC further highlighted Dickey's season-long consistency, noting that "Dickey leads her team with 59-of-83 free throws and is second with 183 points for 12.2 points per game." When the game slows down and the pressure rises, the ball finds Dickey—and the results speak for themselves.
North American's presence in the weekly awards extended beyond offense as well. Senior guard Savannah Velazquez earned conference consideration on the defensive side after recording 16 rebounds and seven steals across NAU's games against LSU Alexandria and Louisiana Christian. Her effort on the glass and in passing lanes exemplified the grit and physicality that has become a trademark of this Stallions squad.
As a team, North American University currently stands at 10–6 overall and 8–6 in RRAC play, ranking fourth in the conference standings. Individual honors are meaningful, but the bigger takeaway is clear: the Stallions are building momentum, stacking performances, and forcing the conference to take notice. When North American steps on the floor, the broadcast tells the same story every night—this is a team on the rise.
