Lady Stallions Soccer Team Embodies NAIA Champions of Character Through Community Service
Written By Rev. Justin C. Jackson

When you talk about the heart of a true champion, it's not just about goals scored or games won—it's about impact. The North American University Women's Soccer team, led by Head Coach Dane Smith, continues to embody what the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative truly stands for: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.

Over the past few weeks, the Lady Stallions have dedicated their time and voices to giving back to the community—earning more than 10 hours of community service through mentorship and outreach across the Houston area. From speaking engagements at Deer Park Soccer Club (3 hours) and Houstonians Soccer Club (3 hours) to youth interaction at SmithFIT Soccer Club (1.5 hours) and Texas United Soccer Club (3 hours), these young women are doing more than just talking soccer—they're planting seeds of purpose.

Coach Smith, who continues to lead with vision and compassion, reminds his players that their platform extends beyond the pitch. "We want our players to understand that giving back isn't an extra—it's essential. These young athletes are watching us. The way we speak, the way we serve, the way we show up—that's how we grow the next generation," Smith said.

There's a beautiful truth in that. Most college athletes who go on to coach will begin their journey with the same age group they're now mentoring. These moments—kneeling beside a 10-year-old player, sharing stories about college life, encouraging dreams—are where leadership begins. They're not just teaching technique; they're teaching belief.

And as they pour into others, they're reminded of a timeless principle found in Galatians 6:9 (NIV):

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

The Lady Stallions are living that truth. Every word of encouragement, every shared story, every hour spent giving back—it's all part of sowing seeds of faith, discipline, and perseverance into the soil of tomorrow's leaders.

In the NAIA, community service isn't just a checkbox—it's the core of what it means to be a Champion of Character. The North American University Women's Soccer team continues to prove that championship character shines brightest when it serves others. North American University Women's Soccer team plants seeds of leadership and faith through youth outreach across Houston.

So while the scoreboard reflects goals and assists, the greater victory is being written in the hearts of the young athletes who now believe that—with faith, effort, and heart—they too can one day wear the jersey, lead the huddle, and carry the torch forward.

Get those 4-fingered Hooves up and keep serving, Stallions!
Because the seeds planted today are the champions of tomorrow.
